t the confluence of the ohio and Muskingum
rivers, find yourself a seat on the levee and
watch old and new worlds pass before your
eyes. From the banks of the Ohio River, you can look
across and see the banks of West Virginia and above
the trees, watch airplanes depart from the airport, while
beneath them, see barges hauling freight up and down
the ohio River. What a contrast in time!
A myriad of interesting events fill the yearly calendar
in Marietta. on the brick streets of Marietta on either
side of the Muskingum River in the Historic district,
find unique shops with welcoming shopkeepers, people

100 years ago. summertime means lots of activities are
held in the downtown area. On the second Friday enjoy
the Merchants & Artists Walks, bringing shopkeepers
and artists together to showcase everything from jewelry
to painting or musical performances. Enjoy the sounds
of blue grass during the Mayor's Third Friday Jubilee at
Armory square.
In July, it's hard to miss the national powerboat races....
they're fast and they're loud! Enjoy speed spectacular
during July's Marietta Riverfront Roar. Come September,
take a step back in time when the annual ohio River
Sternwheel Festival celebrates life on the river.
